Box Score Game One
Box Score Game Two
SHIPPENSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University baseball team ended its spring break trip by dropping a twinbill at Shippensburg on Saturday by scores of 13-0 and 1-0.
In the opener, the Red Raiders scored six times in the second and three times in the third to open a 9-0 lead and were able to coast to the victory. The Huskies managed just two hits in the game, one each from Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) and Donaven Rodreiguez (Manheim/Manheim Central).
In game two, Shippensburg pushed across a run in the bottom of fourth inning and made it hold up in beating the Huskies, 1-0. Bloomsburg's best scoring chance came in the top of the fourth when Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Monsignor Bonner) singled and Rich Letts (Parkesburg/Octorara) reached on an error putting runners at first and second with no outs. After a sacrifice moved the runners over to second and third, Shippensburg got a ground out to first which held the runners. A walk loaded the bases, but the Red Raiders got a ground out to end the threat.
Preston Hitchcock (Laceyville/Wyalusing) was 2-3 to lead the offense, while Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) was the tough-luck loser for the Huskies. Bloomsburg, 3-13, is scheduled to host Clarion on Tuesday in a twinbill at 1 p.m.
